We had our first Art Literacy lesson this week! A HUGE thank you to Jen McUne (Sasha's mom) for leading the lesson and taking over for Mrs. Plato. It was a pretty complex project that focused on landscape and creating a background, middle ground, and foreground. The first graders really showed off their creativity :)
In writing, we are really working on taking a moment and adding details that help us "zoom in." The magnifying glass has become our small moments mascot that helps remind us to think about questions the reader might have, to zoom in on details and to stretch out our stories. I have read, and the students have shared some great small moment stories and I am excited for them to keep writing and sharing!
On Wednesday, we met with our 4th grade buddies and they "rolled" their own monsters! To create their monsters, they rolled a die and what they drew depended on what number they rolled. There were some pretty spectacular monsters, and even some monster families!
