Week 36

It was an exciting week in Room 112...

We had our final art literacy lesson this week. Julie Plato and Jenn McUne did such an amazing job with the art literacy program this year and our final project was focused on what we have been learning about in math...Farms! The first graders looked at Grant Wood's pieces and then created their own farms using cray-pas oil pastels. They turned out really well and are hanging in the hall!

For buddies this week, the fourth graders performed some magic tricks that they learned after reading about Houdini. After the magic show, we discussed symmetry in nature and more specifically in insects. The buddies took turns drawing symmetrical insects!

The entomologists began their study of insects with mealworms. On Thursday, the entomologists got to go on a ladybug hunt outside in the Stephenson garden...there were tons of them! Ms. Pawol's mom provided all of the entomologists with their very own lady bug catchers, equipped with a magnifying lid!

We ended the week with our Stephenson talent show. It was an amazing show :)
